A few months ago in March, my friends were all telling me about a Korean way of making coffee that has taken the internet by storm. Call me a late comer to the party, but I finally decided to give the famed Dalgona Coffee recipe a try.
This recipe comes with two disclaimers though. 1) The caffeine content is quite strong, so for those who don’t like too much caffeine, stay tuned for a whipped hot chocolate version of this drink. 2) If you don’t have an electric mixer, get ready for an arm workout because you will be whisking this baby for a while!
All you need is instant coffee, sugar, hot water, and milk to make this picture-perfect, perfectly creamy, whipped cafe latte. I topped it off with a dusting of cinnamon, and couldn’t believe how amazing it tasted! Here’s the quick 2-step recipe so you can give it a go yourself.
Serving Size: 1
Prep Time: 5 – 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Order now from the Breadfast app
2 tbsp instant coffee (I used nestle instant coffee)
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp very hot water
2 cups milk (as desired)
Pinch of cinnamon or cocoa powder (optional)
Instructions:
1. Combine the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a bowl, and whisk until the mixture becomes thickened with stiff peaks. (Pro tip: hold the whisk between your palms and rub it as if you were starting a fire. This will give your arms a break and also whip up the mixture much faster.)
2. Spoon your whipped coffee on top of a heat-proof glass of hot or cold milk. Sprinkle some cocoa powder or cinnamon (optional), and enjoy your new masterpiece!
